Exit Seminar: Bruno Pimenta

This week, ARE PhD candidate Bruno Pimenta gave an Exit Seminar in the lab, designed to summarize his dissertation research, describe his research journey, and give the lab a preview of his future research agenda.

Bruno entered the ARE PhD program in 2020 and has been a regular member of the lab since 2022. Before coming to Davis, he completed a master's degree at the University of São Paulo. Following graduation, he will join Imperial College London as a postdoctoral researcher, studying the electrification of supply chains with renewable energy.

Bruno has a broad research agenda centered around climate issues. During his master's degree, he studied the effects of droughts on socioeconomic indicators. While at Davis, he has studied the interaction of land use practices and climate change; his job market paper compared how ranchers on public and private land adapted their land use practices in response to droughts. Bruno's dissertation is entitled Land, Climate, and Policy: Essays on Land Use Change in Latin America. His committee co-chairs are Matt Reimer, Kevin Novan, and Pierre Merel.

We wish Bruno the best of luck in his next chapter!
